"Elvis at Age 13"

Michiel Van der Sommen was commissioned by the Elvis Presley Memorial Foundation. It was unveiled in Tupelo, MS. on the sixty- seventh anniversary of the birth of Elvis Presley. The sculpture is 5' 5", the height of Elvis when he was 13 years old and left Tupelo for Memphis, TN. In addition to private commissions, Michiel Van der Sommen's work has been commissioned by civic, governmental, and cultural organizations, throughout the United States and Canada, including the sculpture of "Elvis at age 13" which is located at the birthplace of Elvis Presley in Tupelo, MS. He was also commissioned by Montross, Virginia to sculpt the first Vietnam Veterans Memorial in the United States.
